Ica Desert Return

In 2009 I returned to southern Peru with Gregory Dicum to document an article he was writing for Afar magazine. (https://www.afar.com/magazine/perus-lovely-bones) We had first visited a couple of years earlier when Gregory was writing a travel piece for the New York Times about fossil hunting in the Ocucaje desert. On that trip we met the guide Roberto Penny Cabrera who took us on what became more of an adventure than we had anticipated when his truck's radiator broke and we were stranded miles in the desert for several days.
